I Ghosted Apple News+, And Now I Am Writing About It

I can’t stop myself.

News+ is Apple’s paid subscription that costs $9.99 per month. Here’s something interesting about it – the content is often available elsewhere for free.

This is where ghosting comes into play.

First off, I learned that ghosting is when someone sort of drops off the radar, as the saying goes. Lately, people have been no-shows at job interviews, first days of work, dates, and a whole host of other social engagements. Folks have been going silent for no rhyme or reason leaving others to wonder what happened.

A person vanishes. What’s left is their ”ghost.”

They’ve cheated us is what you might think.

Looks like it’s a bit of a cold shoulder with silent treatment thrown in to add insult to injury, so to speak. I am not sure if my interpretation here is anywhere in the ballpark, but I am going to run with it.

You know how people say ”don’t be a stranger?” Well, imagine I start behaving like one all of a sudden. That’s enough to send shivers down my own spine let alone yours, let me tell you.

Anywho, here I am looking at an enticing title of a News+ article, and I see that I have to sign up for a subscription if I want to read the rest. Instead, I open a browser, search for said title, and voilà – the article appears in full and for free.

Obviously, I sneak out without paying one red cent, and News+ never hears from me again.

I wonder if Apple is offended?… Is it guilt I am feeling? And you know what else? The article that I’ve cheated Apple with is about ghosting…

Ay ay ay…

Here’s How to Deal With Being Ghosted
